FIRST EDITION, one of 350 copies signed by the author, INSCRIBED BY FROST "For Earle Bernheimer" (noted Frost collector) and with a 22-line excerpt from the poem "I Will Sing You One-O" (which appears on pp. 73-75 of this book) WRITTEN OUT AND SIGNED BY FROST on the front free endpaper; beside the inscription is affixed a 3-cent U.S. postage stamp honoring Joseph Pulitzer; illustrated with woodcuts by J.J. Lankes. Crane A6. New Hampshire contains the first book appearance of "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." Provenance : Earle J. Bernheimer, bookplate, inscription by him explaining the bookplate. This, and the Frost books inscribed to Bernheimer in the following 8 lots, all appeared in his sale (in various lots) at Parke-Bernet Galleries, 11-12 December 1950. His remarkable Frost collection, which included the unique copy of Twilight , totalled $14,700 for the 225 lots.
