Beschreibung:

French Bronze Group of Zephyr and Psyche Cast from a model by Jean-Louis Gregoire, late 19th/early 20th century Zephyr with his arm around Psyche who is dressed in a classical gown and holding a flaming oil lamp overhead, on a rotating circular liver colored marble plinth ending in a later square black painted wood base. Height of group 38 1/2 inches, height overall 48 1/4 inches. C Property of a Long Island Collector
The bronze group appears to be in generally good condition; there are some splatter/moisture residue spots to the patina, including to the male figure's chest, neck and cheek area as well as to the female figure's left upper arm and shoulder; the separation or seam or join line is now quite visible to the male figure's right forearm and the patina in this area is now lacking the original brown patina and has a dull gray appearance; a small area of the brown patina above the male figure's right eyebrow appears to have been overpainted; there is green mildewing to some of the crevices; wear to the gidling along the lower rim edge; there has been extensive professional restoration and infilling and overpainting to the marble base; the wood base that accompanies this lot in poor condition and appears to be a later addition or substitution
