Franklin discusses the rumors prevailing that Parry had arrived at Valparaiso on the return from his expedition in search of the Northwest Passage. "I found the report said to have been brought by the Orion South Sea Whaler was totally without foundation ... It was a passenger on board the latter vessel who had said previous to his departure from Buenos Ayres a despatch had arrived from Valparaiso communicating that Capt. Parry was safe in that harbour." -- FRANKLIN. Autograph letter signed ("John Franklin") to Charles Mackintosh, Portland Place, September 1824. 1 page with integral address panel, 4to . Franklin tells Mackintosh that payment for the articles he has supplied for both his own narrative and Capt. Lyons's may now be received. -- FRANKLIN.
