Note: Franklin Brook Voss was a native New Yorker, attending the Art Students League of New York and setting up his studio there. He specialized in horse portraits, receiving commissions from the Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Phippses and Webbs, as here and lots 58 and 59. Voss painted many of the most famous racing and polo horses, including Seabiscuit, Man O'War and Equipose.
