FRANCE] A collection of letters in French by 18th century personalities, including LOUIS XVI (1754-1793) Letter, signed 'Louis', from Paris, 18 April 1792, 2pp with integral blank leaf, 4, to King George III, thanking him for his loyalty and support and expressing the desire for a strong alliance, necessary for the stability of the constitution and interior peace. He speaks about Tallyrand and wants to do everything he can to make an alliance, with annotation on the reverse 'presented 2nd May by M. Chauvelin' (creased on folds, some spotting). MARIE LOUISE, EMPRESS OF AUSTRIA (1791-1847) Document, signed 'Marie Ludovika', 2pp with integral blank leaf, folio, requesting that an Austrian translation of Plutarch be dedicated to her. She acceeds to this request, two line autograph inscription in German (creasing and some tearing on folds). HONORE GABRIEL RIQUETI, COMTE DE MIRABEAU (1749-1792) Autograph letter, signed 'Mirabeau', from Aix, 12 [...] 1773, 1p, 4, to Monsieur Buol, saying that he has received a strange letter from the Baron de Maltzin but is unable to reply as he does not know where he is. He himself will be in Paris later than expected due to the confinement of his wife but sends good wishes, address and fragmentary seal on reverse (slight staining and tears, creased on folds). With various other documents relating to and signed by Marie Antoinette (secretarial signature), Guillotin, Joseph Bonaparte and Joseph Fesch. (7)
