Houston for one day's rations, at the siege of Savannah, Ga., and was sent home by him, by mail, Jan. 1st, 1865, to show his friends what constituted one day's ration of bread. Late of Company B, 74th O.V.V.I. "My Country Tis Of Thee." with full-length uniformed cdv portrait of Eli in lower right corner, frame is 12" x 13.8". The Civil War Database lists Eli as Levi, and this lot includes printed soldiers and unit history from same. The Ohio 74th OVVI were engaged at battle of Stone's river, Hoover's gap, Dug gap, Chickamauga, Buzzard Roost gap, Resaca, Kennesaw mountain, Chattahoochee river, Peachtree creek, Peachtree creek and in front of Atlanta, Jonesboro, Averasboro, and at Bentonville. Condition: Paper tones and image somewhat spotty, cracker cracked and chipped.
