Bradford Prince Author: ** Place: Various places Publisher: Date: 1856 Description: The writers include: Felix K. Zollicoffer (1812-1862), writing as United States Congressman from Tennessee - he became a brigadier general in the CSA and was killed in action at the Battle of Mill Springs. * Robert Toombs (1810-1885), then serving as United States Senator from Georgia, later first Confederate States Secretary of State before quitting to join the CSA, rising to brigadier general. * Nathaniel P. Banks, Jr. (1816-1804), Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts, later as general in the Union Army served with distinction in many campaigns. His calling card is affixed to the letter. * Henry A. Wise (1806-1876), then governor of Virginia, served as a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. Together, 4 autograph letters. Neatly affixed to backing sheets at edge, with writers' names decoratively lettered in ink on the sheet. Responses to requests for autographs. Provenance: L. Bradford Prince, Governor of New Mexico Territory. Lot Amendments Condition: All in fine condition. Item number: 211875
