Contemporary red straight-grain morocco, sides panelled and tooled in blind with lozenge-shaped central panel in gilt with an undecorated center, the lozenge panel bordered with repeated shell tool in blind, spines gilt and blind tooled (minor rubbing to joints, edges, shelfwear to bottom edge). EACH VOLUME WITH A LOVELY PATRIOTIC PORTRAIT AND VIEW ON FORE-EDGE: First volume decorated with Franklin, Independence Hall in Philadelphia, with the Liberty Bell, Stars and Stripes and Franklin's famous kite as surround; second volume decorated with a portrait of Washington, his residence in New York, surrounded with the Bunker Hill Flag, the first United States seal and pistol; third volume with portrait of Pitt, scene of Faneuil Hall, the arms of Eton College and tea plant surround. Cloth slipcase. (3)
