Archive of original drawings for The Swiss Family Robinson, comprising: 1. 2 watercolors with pen-and-ink and pencil, touches of white, 347 x 233 mm and 265 x 167 mm, both signed. The larger one depicts the entire family in the hand-built raft; the second the father and two of the older boys exploring a cave. 2. Pen-and-ink drawing for the front cover and the spine; plus pencil and red ink drawing for the endpapers. 3. 10 pen-and-ink silhouette drawings heightened in white, various sizes. 4. 6 further pen-and-ink silhouette drawings collaged with page ornamentation, about 65 x 240 mm each (one much larger, being the headpiece for chapter 37), all signed in initials. 5. 3 pen-and-ink drawings, one with pencil, various sizes, 2 of which are chapter headpieces (chapters 9 & 25) and one depicting Jack being nipped by a lobster. Published: The Swiss Family Robinson by J.R. Wyss (London: J.M. Dent, 1910 and multiple reprints). Tremendous cache of original drawings from Charles Folkard's edition of this classic tale of shipwreck and adventure. The whimsical drawings capture both the excitement of the scenes and the exotic East Indian flora and fauna.
