FLORIDA]. FERDINAND VI, King of Spain . Partly printed document signed ("Yo El Rey," with paraph), Aranjuez, 10 June 1747. 1 page, folio, 298 x 208 mm. (11¾ x 8¾ in.), integral blank, papered seal at left-hand edge, accomplished in manuscript , in Spanish. King Ferdinand (1711-1759), "in consideration of the merit and virtues of Brigadier Don Manuel Montiano, Governor and Captain-General of Province of Florida, stationed at Saint Augustine in America," appoints him Field Marshall (Marescal de Campo) of the army. Montiano was one of the last Spanish Governors of Florida before the territory was ceded to Great Britain in 1763 (it reverted to Spain again in 1783).
