This composition is executed in the spirit of the monochrome oil sketches produced by both painters. The dynamic folds of drapery and the forceful devotional expression of Saint Francis’ outstretched hand also reflect the impact of Italian art on Flemish painting at this time. Unframed: 32.1 x 23.7 cm.; 12 5/8 x 9 3/8 in. (including additions, 0.6 cm. wide, on the upper and lower margins)
