A travel watch with thermometer, in metal case, covered in brown leather with gold print, white dial with Roman numerals, faceted glass surrounded by gilded bronze. USA, last quarter of the 19th century. H. 12 cm. A silver mustard container and an oil jug with blue glass inserts in Louis XVI style. Sweden, 1920. Oil jug apparently unmarked. H. 9.5 cm. and 9 cm. (5). Provenance, travel watch: King Frederik VIII of Denmark (1843–1912), father of King Christian X of Denmark. Provenance, goblet and ashtray: King Christian X (1870–1947) and Queen Alexandrine of Denmark (1879–1952). Provenance, mustard container and oil jug: King Christian X of Denmark's son and daughter-in-law, Hereditary Prince Knud (1900–1976) and Hereditary Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark (1912–1995), who also inherited the travel watch, goblet and ashtray; then their daughter, Princess Elisabeth to Denmark (1935–2018). Before her death the items were given to private Danish ownership, which it has been until today. Condition Decorative goblet: Minimal chips on bottom. Ashtray: Wear due to age and use, including marks and scratches in the silver plus enamel losses. Travel watch: Wear due to age and use, including marks and scratches. The work seems not to be working. Mustard container and oil jug: Minimal wear due to age and use.
