Five manuscript documents relating to Mexico's intercourse with the Philippines, and their relationship with Spain Author: Place: Mexico & Spain Publisher: Date: 1770-1800 Description: 7 leaves (2 of them blank conjugates), one with stamped seal at top corner. Ink manuscript in Spanish. Each approx. 30.5x21 cm (12x8¼") Comprises: México, April 7, 1770. Order by the Viceroy Marques de Croix to appoint four Interim Guards whenever the Galeón from Manila arrives to Acapulco, to watch all roads leading to Acapulco and look for contraband. Puerto de Santa María, Spain. July 5, 1774. Letter from the Marques de Trigona to the Marques de Croix, Viceroy of New Spain. Pablo Bantigo and Gregorio del Campo, natives from the Philippines, have arrived to this port accompanying the Jesuits that had been expelled from that Province. Both are sailors and will be sent back to New Spain. He asks the Viceroy to enlist them in the crew of the Galeón that makes an annual trip to the Philippines. Jalapa, México, October 5, 1774. Letter from the Marques de Croix to the new Viceroy Don Antonio de Bucareli y Ursua, signed by the Marques de Croix. The two individuals mentioned above have arrived in New Spain, he asks the Viceroy to comply with the request of the Marques de Trigona and help them get back to the Philippines. Madrid, July 24, 1799. Letter from the King to the Viceroy José Miguel de Azansa. There was a dispute in Philippines between the Captain General and the Commander of the Fleet. A new ship has been built, Fragata Nuestra Señora de Aranzasú, and both want to give orders about destination and crew. The King orders that the Captain General is in charge, since the Philippines depends on San Blas in México, and this port has special rules. He orders the Commander to obey the orders given by the Captain General. México, January 8, 1800. The Viceroy Azansa resends the above order. There is mention that the fleet consists of 13 warships. Lot Amendments Condition: First document stained, others with just light wear, very good Item number: 313293
