(8vo) First Printing. Original cloth in Dust Jacket. A Woman of Thirty , 1959 (8vo) First Printing. Original cloth and boards. Dust Jacket. Inscribed on flyleaf: “To Harry Rasky, with best wishes from Diana Chang. April 1959”. Born in New York and educated at American schools in China before and during World War II, Chang returned to the US to become the first American-born Chinese woman novelist. None of her 6 novels – she also wrote three books of poetry and was an accompliahed artist - were on explicitly Chinese-American themes. The first had three young Chinese Eurasian women “seeking identity” in wartime Shanghai. The second was about a white woman dealing with a painful divorce and an affair with a married man. Chang's last novel was published in 1978, her last book of poetry in 1991.She died in 2009. Lot Amendments Condition: Near fine. Item number: 288671
