Beschreibung:

Chinese, 18th century, Qianlong period. A pale celadon jade altar set, with three separate finely carved jade vessels, including a small rectangular lidded jade vessel with lobed corners, having intricate scrollwork in relief on the top. Second is a large lidded rectangular jade vessel with lobed corners and two dragon head handles, each with loose rings. The body has a band of stylized chilongs over a band of decorative scrollwork with central shou emblems. The lid has a dragon finial and reticulated chilong reserves at each corner; all supported on four feet. Third is a double gourd jade vessel having plantain leaves along the lip with carved lotus flowers in reserves on each side. All unmarked. Each on a separate intricately carved wooden stands, set atop an 18th century compound three-piece carved and fitted stands with ruyi and floral carvings, on a rectangular wooden stand; housed in a rosewood box with a Chinese label. Tallest vessel ht. 4.75 in. (12.2 cm), case ht. 6.25 in. (15.4 cm), wd. 16.5 in. (42 cm), dp. 14.75 in. (37.5 cm). Provenance: Purchased 5/13/1972 from The Gallery, Lahaina, Maui, HI. Estate of Richard C. Friedman, Shaker Heights, OH. Condition: Some wear to the cloth on the top of the stands. Repair to wooden bases - two have been reglued and one needs to be reglued. Crack on top of the box that runs the entire length of the box. Dragon finial on top of center piece has been replaced.
