Fine illuminated Elizabethan scroll, being "A discourse, & catalogue of all the Dukes of England: by Creation, or Descent, since the time of the Conquest", embellished with 66 shields, accompanied by legends in a fine Italic hand enclosed within coloured strapwork cartouches (the first stating that the time has come "that ther should be no Dukes in England" and promising that "I will from the first creation of any Duke since the Conquest recite the creation, discent & succession of all such Dukes of England, shewing first the time of their creation, & secondly their discent, as they are lineally issued out of that creation, with their mariages, & issues, which follow as they came in one line, & also where these Dukes were buried and how they came by their deaths"), the last cartouche ending with a meditation on the last Duke of Norfolk's death and treason, on four skins of vellum, some damp-staining in places, top and bottom wormed, dust-staining, but nevertheless overall in sound and attractive condition, 2875 x 863mm., 1600
