Beschreibung:

Quarter plate tintype of soldier with possible French rifle with sword bayonet. Small US flag on pedestal behind him. He also wears a sword on his belt. In half case, with a couple of small areas of emulsion flaking. Sixth plate ruby ambrotype of Union soldier holding 1855 rifled musket. Oxidized "halo" under mat. In half case. Sixth plate tintype of soldier with snake belt buckle. Buttons and weapons hardware with gilt highlights. Name on back case Samuel Burns, Bethesda, Ohio. HDS shows three men who served Ohio units by this name - one in 2nd Indep. Co. Ohio Sharpshooters (DOD), one in 10th OH Cav., and one in 80th OVI. He is probably one of the first two because the image seems to be an older gentleman and the one in the infantry enlisted at 20. In full case with spine weakening. Sixth plate tintype of Union soldier with SNY belt buckle. He also holds a long arm with fixed bayonet, although most details of the gun are not visible. Has two stripes of a corporal. In half case. Tintype of Union soldier holding 1855 H.F. rifle. Cdv-sized image in 2.5 x 3.75 in. half case; with arched top copper mat. Ninth plate tintype of Union soldier holding flintlock musket. In full Union case (thermoplastic). Oxidized "halo" under the mat.
