lot of 5, including a Bill of Lading for the Pacific Express Company, El Paso, TX, 14 Aug. 1900. Verso has advertising for Pacific Express Money Orders. And a Live Stock Contract for the International & Great Northern Railroad to take two cars containing 70 horses from San Antonio to Cairo, IL. 1p, 8.5 x 14", San Antonio station, 17 Jan. 1891. And Bill of Lading for 2 x 4s and shingles from Lavaca, TX to Victoria(?), Texas post. 1p, Lavaca, Tx, 23 Jan. 1865(?). Shipped by "public wagons" and signed for by James Spencer, Lt. & AAQM 8th Cavalry as received "In bad order." Also signed by Francis Grarage, "wagin master." Probably relates to the buildup, literally with these materials, for the later round of skirmishes in the Indian Wars. Also an import invoice for merchandise purchased in Sonora, Mexico and brought into Tucson, District of Paso del Norte, in vehicles. 1p, 7.75 x 9.5", 15 May 1879. Total value of goods, corn meal, brown sugar, flour, and beans, was just over $250, with duties of $42. And a signed affidavit for return of cattle to B. O. Hicks, 2pp, Cameron Co., TX, 1883. Affidavit of Josiah Farmer states that Hicks and C.H. Haris of Matam[oro]s, Mexico sent 60 head of female cattle to graze on his land in Texas, and one-third of the cattle were to remain on his ranch in payment for the care and feeding of the herd, but because of thefts and other issues with the herd, he is returning all of them and charging them $65 for expenses incurred. Provenance: The Thomas Minckler Collection of Western Americana Condition: All with minor toning, but generally in good condition.
