A POPULAR TREATISE ON GEMS, IN REFERENCE TO THEIR SCIENTIFIC VALUE New York: The Author, 1872. 528pp. This fourth edition is identical to previous copies, but has an additional section titled "The South African Diamond Fields", as well as, six other short appendixes about diamonds in various locations. The book ends with a sort discussion on the value of diamonds and gems in 1872. There are many interesting hand colored plates including one depicting a color chart of gemstones. (2)
