A DOCUMENT SIGNED NOT LONG BEFORE THE LAUNCHING OF COLUMBUS'S SECOND VOYAGE. Los Reyes Catolicos issue a decree to the Fiscal and Procurator of the Poor, Piedro Diaz de la Torre, authorizing him to give aid and assistance to the inhabitants of the cities recently reconquered from the Moors. This territory would have included much of the province of Granada, seized upon the expulsion of the last Moorish regent, Boabdil, to complete the reconquista of the Iberian peninsula.
