Original blue cloth, lettered in yellow on front cover and spine (corners lightly bumped); WITH THE SCARCE PICTORIAL DUST JACKET (some wear with a few small chips at extremities, some short tears along folds, a few tape repairs, some light overall fading and toning on spine panel, price-clipped); cloth slipcase. FIRST EDITION OF FAULKNER'S FIRST NOVEL. Soldiers' Pay was published through Faulkner's association with Sherwood Anderson and Anderson's intervention with the publisher, Boni & Liveright. The World War I novel met with some favorable reviews as an experimental novel by an unknown writer, but failed to sell well. Petersen A2a.
