Ernest Wild (d.1918) [and Frank Wild (1874-1939)] Ernest Wild (d.1918). Autograph letter signed to Mrs Macklin, London, n.d. [c.1914], on paper with printed heading of 'The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition', thanking her for sending her brother's address in Melbourne, as he knows no one in Australia, 1½ pages, 8vo . [ Together with :] A series of 7 letters signed by K. Grahame Thomson to Dr Alexander Macklin, 2 January 1952 - 3 March 1958, concerning a projected biography of Frank Wild, in particular its frustration through the intransigence of Wild's widow, Beatrice, in demanding a share of the royalties, ending with Thomson's discovery that in fact Wild had left his estate to his first wife, Vera, 11 pages, 8vo and 4to . PROVENANCE: Alexander Hepburne Macklin (1889-1967), and thence by descent to the present owners. Ernest Wild, brother of Frank, was employed on the Ross Sea shore party of the I.T.A.E. in charge of stores and dogs. He was killed in the First World War on a minesweeper in the Mediterranean.
