(Occasional light spotting, margin of title somewhat soiled.) Original boards (rebacked, original paper title-label laid down). FIRST EDITION. Abbey Travel 504. -- Thomas Duer BROUGHTON (1778-1835). The Costume, Character, Manners, Domestic Habits, and Religious Ceremonies of the Mahrattas. London: T.Davison for John Murray 1813. 4° (263 x 208mm). 10 hand-coloured aquatint plates. (Occasional light soiling.) Contemporary dark brown calf, the covers with a wide decorative border in gilt and blind, large central irregularly-shaped light brown panels acid-etched with landscape views (a road leading up to a castle on the upper cover, a mill or gatehouse on the lower), (rebacked, extremities scuffed).
