Beschreibung:

ELIOT, THOMAS STEARNS Prufrock and Other Observations. . London: The Egoist, 1917. First edition [one of 500 copies, according to Gallup]. With a pencilled presentation from T.S. Eliot's brother Henry Ware Eliot to his bride-to-be Theresa dated 3/20/25. An early photograph of T.S. Eliot at age 19, taken by his brother, is mounted to the gutter margin of the title-leaf. Original publisher's stiff buff wrappers lettered in black, housed in a later cloth chemise and slipcase. 7 1/8 inches (18 cm); 40 pp. The book has a central crease throughout (it was clearly folded at some point), and the binding has some soiling, creasing and light wear. The text block is loosening in the wrappers. The photograph has cracked and separated at the gutter; Together with a brief autograph note signed by Eliot. Creased with a small tear; And three small framed photographs, two of T.S. Eliot (one in boyhood, one candid social photograph). A highly evocative Eliot family association copy of this, Eliot's epochal first book. Gallup A1. C
