Eli Ilan (Israeli, 1928 - 1982) Bird III Bronze Signed and numbered 1 of 7 176cm high On view at: The Sculpture Park Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Ilan attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver before emigrating to Israel in 1948, where he studied pre-historic archaeology and physical anthropology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 1956, he returned to Canada to study sculpture at the Ontario College of Art & Design. He is most well-known for his monumental work 'Dolmenic Arch I' (1981), at Tel Aviv University Campus. Two major solo exhibitions of his sculptures were held in Israel, including a 1961 show at Gallery Jehudith, Tel Aviv, early on in his career, and a retrospective at the Herzliya Museum of Art in 1992
