Ursprünglich 1928 bei Rudier in Paris in einer Auflage von zehn signierten und numerierten Exemplaren gegossene Bronze. Der Kopf des "Romanichel" beschäftigte Arno Breker über Jahre, und es entstand noch eine weitere Fassung. Das Modell war ein Zigeunerjunge, dessen Antlitz insbesondere im Kreis um Jean Cocteau mit dem Breker seit den zwanziger Jahren befreundet war, eine besondere Faszination ausgeübt hatte. – Die Düsseldorfer Bildgießerei ist für uns ein Indiz für eine Datierung nach 1950, also nach dem Umzug von Breker aus Bayern in die Rhein-Metropole. – Bronze auf Sockel etw. gelockert. "Romanichel". Bronze portrait on dark marble base. With scratch signature and carved founder’s mark "Bildgiesser A. Bischoff Düsseldorf", not numbered or dated (probably after 1950). Ca. 28 (with base 41,5) x 16 x 21 cm. – Bronze originally cast 1928 by Rudier in Paris in ten signed and numbered copies. The head of "Romanichel" preoccupied Arno Breker for many years, and there is another version. The model was a gypsy boy whose face had fascinated the circle around Jean Cocteau who was a friend of Breker since the nineteen-twenties. – The Düsseldorf Bildgießerei is a clear indication for us regarding the dating after 1950, that is after Breker’s move from Bavaria to the Rhine metropolis. – Bronze somewhat loosened at the base.
