Beschreibung:

32 pp. Illustrated from photographs, drawngs, maps, bird's-eye views, etc., some color. 27.5x35.5 cm (19 ¾x14") color pictorial wrappers, sring tie. Elaborate promotional booklet on the burgeoning metropolis of greater Los Angeles, profusely illustrated including aerial views and maps, and pictorial graphics indicating the growhe of income and wealth since 1910 (soon, of course, to be wiped out by the Great Depression). The foreword states that " ...The Frank Miline Company recently completed an exhaustive survey covering every phase of the growth and development of Los Angeles... This book contains a brief synopsis of the most important facts of the survey ... " OCLC/WorldCat lists ten copies. The aerial photograph of Los Angeles by Robert Spence is significant. Spence risked his life on a regular basis throughout the 1920's, 30's, and 40's, hanging out the side of a biplane holding a 46 pound camera, documenting aspects of the city few at the time had seen. The Los Angeles rich and famous of the 1920's used to pay him $10 a picture for aerial shots of their homes.
