Approximately 6x4¾, hand-stitched with original thick wooden board covers, placed inside the original two-part sliding leather traveling case with leather and rope ties. Written in the Ethiopic (Ge'ez) script, a Semitic language that is no longer spoken, but is still used for liturgical and other religious purposes by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The subjects of these "Bibles" are always Christian, but actual content varies. Shows a nice patina of age and usage; well-smoked with an old and interesting aroma due to heavy incense ingraining. Additional hand-written notes in Ethiopian Ge’ez script on the first few blank leaves. Perforations along fore-edge side of pages throughout, done during the book production process. A modern inked note (in English laid in) states it to be written in Amharic, the official Ethiopian language. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing, darkening, wear to edges, binding a bit loose but to be expected; very good and rare. Item number: 172777
