He was an exceptional figurative sculptor, imparting a great sense of human personality, vulnerability and aspirations in stylised but firmly grounded individual and group pieces. In an almost parallel vein, he pursued pure abstraction in fabricated, stainless steel works, many designed for the open air. His public monuments are well known - Wolfe Tone on St Stephen's Green, Thomas Davis on College Green - and fondly regarded. This work, thought to date from the early 1960's, is part of Delaney's Peace Marchers Series.
