Lot of 10 Union cases. Thermoplastic examples include: sixth plate scroll/floral [Krainik 294] containing Ohio State Board of Agriculture medallion, 51mm, inscribed to "C.F. Boos / Set of Band of Instruments / James Fullington Prest. 1869"; thermoplastic wall frame with leaf and flower motif [Berg 7-43], 4.375 x 5 in., containing tintype of woman with long tresses. Inscribed name and 1862 date on back of frame. Light chipping to corners. Examples of papier mache cases with mother of pearl and hand painting include: sixth plate book form case with floral motif [Berg 6-41] containing 2 daguerreotypes of a man and woman, who is shown holding a book or album. Light surface wear to covers, some minor fraying to velvet spine. Front cover partially separated from spine; ninth plate book form case with floral motif [Berg 6-166] containing crisp, clear tintype of woman. Case covers with light surface wear, light wear to spine, velvet interior pad presented but separated from case. Sixth plate leather embossed book form case with floral motif and "Friendship Offering" in gilt on spine [Berg 5-84G], containing daguerreotype of serious looking little girl. Light tarnish along perimeter of plate, contrast light, scattered spotting on plate. Case with light corner and edge wear, but in very fine condition overall. 2 ninth plate embossed pressed paper cases, the first with urn design, containing daguerreotype of gentleman (tarnish along perimeter), under mat stamped "G.L. Williams" at lower left (scattered spotting on mat); second embossed case containing ruby ambrotype of man wearing large bowtie. Minor edge wear to case. Sixteenth plate leather case with flap and latch, containing tintype of young woman. Light edge wear to case. Velvet cases include: oval blue velvet ninth plate case [Berg 6-17a] containing tintype of lovely young woman, her cheeks lightly tinted pink; and red velvet ninth plate book form case [Berg 6-15] with harp clasp, containing tintype of woman.
