Porter and Dulau & Co., 1881-1887. ***A finely bound set of the first and only edition of this valuable and attractive work, including a “series of well written field notes accompanied by good plates” (Zimmer). Booth, a wealthy amateur naturalist, was an accomplished taxidermist as well as an enthusiastic sportsman. The plates were drawn by Neale from the naturalistic tableaux of stuffed birds shot and prepared by Booth, most of which are now in the Booth Museum, Brighton, England.
