Provenance : occasional contemporary annotations. Scotus's commentary on the Sentences of Peter Lombard was the standard textbook of Catholic theology during the middle ages. This handsome edition is printed in the Jenson type which Johannes Herbort used at the start of the Venetian period of his typographical career, working as printer to the recently constituted firm of Johannes de Colonia et Nicolaus Jenson et Socii.
