Steeple signed "Dorothy Norman" in blue ballpoint pen, titled, dated, and annotated in pencil, and stamped "ORIGINAL BY/DOROTHY NORMAN" in blue ink on the mount and on an additional support; Gravestone titled, dated, and annotated in pencil and stamped "ORIGINAL BY/DOROTHY NORMAN" and "FOR PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM/COLLECTION DOROTHY NORMAN" in red ink on the mount verso. Gelatin silver prints flush-mounted to board and then mounted again to board, image/sheet sizes to 3 5/8 x 2 1/2 in. (9.2 x 6.4 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Steeple with minor emulsion losses at lower edge, Gravestone with subtle crease at u.r. corner. Provenance: Gift of the photographer to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1980 and 1984; sold with the approval of the Trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisition funds.
