Collection of documents concerning the establishment of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the committee in charge of its establishment, from the archive of Sir Aryeh (Leon) Simon (for additional information about Simon, see previous item): 1. A letter from Shmaryahu Levine, on stationery of the chamber of the minister of Education and Culture, the Zionist Organization in London, June 27, 1919. A protocol of the first meeting of the University Board of June 10,1919, is attached. 1 + 5 leaves. 2. A letter from Shmaryahu Levine, on stationery of the Central Office of the Zionist Organization in London, November 26, 1919: " The World Zionist Organizations calls to discuss the establishment of the Hebrew University in Eretz Israel. The World Zionist Congress in Vienna in 1913 decided to establish this university. In 1918, after the British government promised in the Balfour Declaration to assist in the establishment of a National Home for the Jewish People in Eretz Israel, Prof. Chaim Weizmann laid the corner-stone on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem". 1 leaf. 3. Letter on stationery of the Zionist organization in London of December 24, 1919, concerning the above mentioned letter, and informing that the convention supposed to take place in Basel in January, was postponed to an unknown date. 1 leaf. 4. "Note for the Discussion on the Organisation of the Arts Faculty (Philosophische Fakultat) at the University of Jerusalem". Copy of a typewritten document, from Sir Alfred E. Zimmern, with handwritten corrections. London, December 16, 1919. 4 leaves. 5. Draft Resolution for the University Fund. 2 leaves. 6. Note on the University Project, by Dr. Chaim Weizmann. 5 leaves. 7. Statement on the Present Position of the University Question, January 21, 1920. 5 leaves. 8. Letter on stationery of Keren Hayesod in London. Opening with the words: "Dear sir, We beg leave to inform you of the developments in the position of the Jerusalem University scheme since the interruption in the work of the Advisory Committee last summer".
