(Some pale spotting.) 20th-century half calf antique, marbled boards. FIRST EDITION. Dobbs had sponsored Middleton's attempt to find a Northwest Passage as early as 1737. After this failure, another attempt was sent under Middleton in 1741. The failure this time caused great animosity to develop between the two men, which persisted for years in print.
