Fourth Paris Edition. Rare post-incunabula edition of the "Dialogues Concerning the Life and Miracles of the Italian Fathers and the Eternity of Souls" by Pope Saint Gregory I (c. 540-604). The "Dialogues" was written in 593, 4 years after Gregory assumed the papacy, and its sometimes extravagant accounts of the lives and miracles of the Italian saints were widely popular reading throughout the middle ages. Lot Amendments Condition: Lacking title page (as noted); old marginal notes on recto of first leaf; small worm tracks to first 3 gatherings; fairly inoffensive dampstain affecting mostly the margins of first 3 gatherings, text generally quite clean and else very good.
