Beschreibung:

DESIGNER UNKNOWN BATMAN / SUPERMAN. Two posters. 1968. Sizes vary, approximately 41x28 inches. Condition varies, generally B+: repaired tears and minor discoloration in margins. The American comic strip was an inspiration for the pop-art movement in the 1960's. Apart from the obvious, and ubiquitous work of Roy Lichtenstein other artists indulged in super hero based art in their works, for example Mel Ramos (Batman-Superman painting, 1962), and, in Paris, Roman Cieslewicz used them for the cover of Opis International #4. In the late 1960's a new type of poster emerged around the world, consisting of decorative ephemera; a by product of the flower people, peace movement and student protests. These two larger-than-life crime fighters would have suffered the same fate as the million of other images printed at the time: they disappeared, being thrown away, ripped apart of kept in very poor condition. Paradoxically that leaves these two images to be qualified as "rare".
