DescriptionA large pair of Napoleon III gilt and patinated bronze figural torchères, Paris, stamped Bouchon, Paris, circa 1900
each modelled as a winged male (probably the allegory of Progress) the allegory of Progress and a female as an allegory of Fame figure holding aloft a candelabrum, on gilt-bronze griffin bases, the glass shades probably a replacement, fitted for electricity, stamped BOUCHON / PARIS to the back of the base126cm. high, 50cm. wide, 40cm. deep; 4ft. 1⅝in., 1ft. 7⅝in., 1ft. 3¾in.Condition reportIn overall good condition with minor old marks, rubbing, tarnishing and scratches consistent with age and use. One glass shade with a minor hairline crack towards the top. Sotheby's recommends the assistance of a professional for re-wiring. As mentionned in the description, the glass shades are probably a replacement.
