Description It was evident to Porsche management in the late Fifties that the 356 series was rapidly becoming dated and reaching the end of its development potential, so in 1959 Ferdinand Porsche began designing a new car. A number of criteria were laid down: the car would have no more than a 2,200mm wheelbase and would carry two adults and two children. Not only has this model now become seemingly immortal, but it has undergone the most rigorous development programme over its life of possibly any car. Various years represent highlights in terms of car specification and desirability, and of the normal road-going models, 1969 is one of these years. Production started on the 1969 ‘B’ Series 911 in August 1968. The wheelbase was stretched to 2,268mm, which greatly enhanced weight distribution, and hence ride and handling. This matching numbers example is described as being in excellent condition throughout and finished in the desirable colour of blood orange (6809) with a contrasting black interior. The car was subject to a restoration in 2013; during the restoration, the owner informs us that the carburettors were revised and the engine disassembled, with gaskets replaced. The damper springs and brake pipes were all replaced. During the restoration, the electrical system was renewed, as well as all rubber items and gaskets; the owner informs us that the black interior is new. All materials used are genuine Porsche K-Leder. A fine example of a highly desirable motor car, and with values ever increasing, now is the time to buy one of Zuffenhausen’s finest.
