Deluxe engraved barrel, checkered loading lever, frame, hammer, backstrap, triggerguard. Hand-engraved cylinder scene with engraving on the back of cylinder. Backstrap has the engraved inscription: Cavalry Brigade to General Seldon E. Marvin 1867. Triggerguard has a star indicating factory refinish, which we think was done about the turn of century in 1900. Original ivory grips. Seldon E. Marvin, 112th New York Infantry, was born about 1835, Based on a muster record citing his age 27 in 1862. He entered military service on September 11, 1862 as an Adjutant, 112th New York Infantry, for a term of three years. He was detached in December, 1862 as an Acting Assistant Adjutant General. Seldon Marvin was discharged for promotion to Pay Master, U.S. Volunteers on September 13, 1863. There is no further information in his military service records, but presumably Selden Marvin, holding the rank of 1st Lieutenant, completed his wartime service as the Pay Master, U.S. Volunteers. A complete folder of history comes with the revolver. Condition: Revolver was refinished by Colt, and retains nearly all of the factory high refinished blue and case colored. One of the great rarities in collecting percussion Colts to own a deluxe engraved presentation revolver.
