(5) ESTC does not list a first edition of this work. This copy contains a tipped-in typed letter to John Merriam from A.C. Harfore of Harvard College, dated February 13, 1928, presenting the book as a "Detur ... For at least one hundred years they have been awarded to Harvard undergraduates whose proficiency in their studies has set them apart from their fellows."
