DE MARINIS, Tammaro (1878-1969). Collection of De Marinis catalogues and bulletins: Livres Anciens, rares et précieux . [Catalogue I]. Florence: De Marinis & Cie., 1904. Original wrappers. -- [Catalogue II & III]. 1905. -- Livres rares, autographes et manuscripts . [Catalogue IV]. 1906. Original wrappers. -- Manuscrits et livres rares . [Catalogue VII]. 1907. Original wrappers. -- [Catalogue VIII]. 1908. -- [Catalogue IX]. 1909. Original wrappers. -- Manuscrits, autographes, riche collection d'ouvrages de musique, incunables . [Catalogue X]. 1911. -- Manuscrits, autographes... et livres rares . [Catalogue XI]. 1911. Original wrappers. -- [Catalogue XII]. 1913. Original wrappers. -- Ouvrages imprimés à Bologna au XV. Siècle . [Catalogue XIII]. 1914. -- Bulletin 1, 1918. -- Bulletin 2, 1819. -- Bulletin 4, 1919. -- Bulletin 6, 1920. -- Bulletin 8, 1922. -- Bulletin 9, 1923. Together 16 parts in 11 volumes, 8 o and 4 o. Six catalogues (1, 2/3, 4, 7, 11, 12) bound together in grey half linen over marbled boards, dark blue lettering piece, original wrappers except for II; the remaining in original wrappers or stitched (some wear and chipping). Nearly complete collection of De Marinis catalogues, apparently lacking only Catalogues V-VI & XIV, and Bulletins 3 & 5. From the bibliography of De Marinis by Romeo De Maio in vol. I of the De Marinis Festschrift Studi di Bibliografia e di Storia , 1964 it appears that his (unnumbered) Catalogues II & III (De Maio Nos. 16 & 17) are in every respect identical, and when, in 1907, with Catalogue VII, he started numbering his catalogues (on their wrappers only), he made a mistake in their numeration. The first three catalogues were introduced by bibliographical essays: "Les Libraires allemands à Naples au XV e siècle," "Additions à la bibliographie de M.H. Vaganay," and "Les Débuts de l'imprimerie arménienne à Venise." Catalogue XI, 1911, celebrated the memory of Léopold Delisle (d. 1910), one of De Marinis's heroes. Catalogue XIII, offering 104 Bolognese incunabula, was a tour-de-force. "De Marinis published his first catalogue in 1904 which at once established the highest standards of bibliographical description in Italian booksellers' catalogues... his nine Bulletins... were less elaborate, but no less learned" (B.H. Breslauer, "Tammaro De Marinis Remembered," in Ulrico Hoepli Festschrift , 1997). [ With: ] A deluxe copy of Livres rares, autographes et manuscripts . [Catalogue IV]. 1906. LIMITED EDITION, number 25 of 39 copies printed on fine paper and bound in full imitation vellum for the members of the Société des Bibliophiles Français. This copy is with the preinted designation for Baron de Barante. (12)
