DE BAUSSET, L. F. Histoire de Bossuet, évèque de Meaux, Versailles: J. A. Lebel, 1819. 4 volumes, 8°, engraved portrait frontispiece, contemporary stained calf by P. Jacotier, sides with single line rule and roll-tool border of a vine heavy with grapes, backs with title, volume number, and binder's name gilt-lettered in 3 of the 6 compartments, 2 compartments with simple gilt floral tool, the remaining ornament in blind consisting of cross-hatching, scrolls and acanthus leaves (vol. I with some small, surface cracks to the leather), gilt inner dentelles and board edges, marbled endpapers and paper edges (2 edges slightly discoloured), mid 20th-century solander boxes. Provenance : Mortimer L. Schiff; John Roland Abbey, morocco book labels. Also with Abbey's library number and purchase date "5. 7. 1938" written in pen-and-ink at the end of each volume.
