He is known to have spent some time in Tamworth, a town in these mountains, in 1863, the year of this work. Glue relined. Scattered craquelure throughout. Frame rubbing, with corresponding inpaint, especially along the lower register and the left edge. Scattered light touches of inpaint in the sky. There is a 1 inch vertical repaired tear at the lower center among the trees. There is no further restoration visible under UV light.
