Nuremberg: Christian Sigmund Froberg for Johann Hoffmanns, 1681. 2 parts in 1 volume, 2° (332 x 210mm). Half-title, title, section title to part II, engraved title by S. G. Hipschman, 45 engraved plates and maps including 14 double-page, numerous engraved illustrations. (Lacking plates at part I, p. 70 and part II, p. 36, plate of the Court of the Great Mogul torn and creased, some browning, generally light, dedication leaf strengthened at outer margin, occasional short marginal tears.) Böner, letterpress title, 27 engraved plates and maps including 2 folding and 15 double-page, numerous engraved illustrations. (Lacks plate for p. 132, the folding plate of Tower of Babel torn and creased at edges, occasional browning, last two quires detached.) Blackmer 450. 2 works in 3 parts in 1 volume, 2° (332 x 210mm). Contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards, spine in six compartments with raised bands, later lettering-piece in one, with clasps (some small worm holes, lacking metal corner-pieces and one metal element of a clasp). First German editions of both works. Dapper was "a Dutch physician and scholar devoted to historical and geographical studies. His works are of especial importance because of the fine plates, which include maps, plans, beautiful views and costumes" (Blackmer 449, note). In the first work, additional half-page plates (part of the same series as the rest but not required in the publisher's list of plates), have been inserted as follows: Asia-Persia: Part I, p. 28 and p. 120; Part II, p. 33, p. 62 and p. 80, and Asia-Mesopotamia: p. 208, 219, 342 and 417.
