PRIESTLEY (1894-1984); & OTHERS One-page typed letter, signed 'Daphne du Maurier', from Menabilly, Par, Cornwall, 6 March 56, 8, to Mr Ridgway, flattered at the idea that a bedroom at the school should be named after her, discusses possible furnishings and suggests that the rooms perhaps should be named after famous historical figures 'there can be no jealousy that way'. One-page typed letter, signed 'J.B. Priestley', from Kissing Tree House, Alveston, 21 September 1970, 8, to Athelstan Ridgway, regarding his 'ingenious little Time story'. One-page autograph letter, signed 'Robert Graves' from Canellun, Deya, Mallorca, Spain, 20 April 1967, 4, to Mr Ridgway, stating he can not afford to come to England to speak 'when I could stay here and earn a dollar a word'. With various other typed and autograph letters mostly in response to Ridgway's invitations to speak at his writing school, signed 'Agatha Christie', 'Malcolm Muggeridge','W.S. Maugham', 'Hammond Innes', 'James Cameron', 'Stephen Spender', 'Mary Wilson', 'Willis'. Five letters to Alfred Ridgway, one signed 'John Betjeman' whilst at the Ministry of Information, two signed 'Bedford' and two 'Anthony Armstrong'. See front cover illustration (21)
