He began an amiable exchange of letters with Knight in the 1960s and each used playful layouts or demonstrations of calligraphy and cartoonish details. Scott's archive was sold initially at auction in 1993. Curiously, Scott and Knight never met: "It was not necessary or desirable but I loved her."
