Beschreibung:

Cunningham, Vera 1897-1955 British AR, Three Paintings all Watercolours: Pink Form, Face, Seated Figure. 17 x 13.75 ins., Signed; 16 x 12.25 ins.; 21.5 x 14.5 ins., Signed. (3) Vera was a colourful character to put it mildly. She had serious relationships with Bernard Meninsky and Matthew Smith, who painted a number of pictures of her, which generally filled the canvas emphasising her voluptuous figure. Malcolm Yorke described her as ''a guffawing, red haired, rosy cheeked, plump bodied, highly sexed young woman determined to be a professional artist.'' She achieved her aim and exhibited in several galleries often with Matthew Smith in the UK and Paris. When she died allegedly in the arms of Matthew Smith, a retrospective of her work was held in the Barbican Gallery in 1985. Her work is often as flamboyant as herself. This collection of her work can be described as interesting.
