Title within engraved border with a large portrait medallion of Cresci, each page of calligraphic specimens within woodcut border. Provenance : acquired from Lathrop C. Harper, 1977. Second edition. The printing history of Il perfetto scrittore requires further research. The second edition with the Rampazetti imprint comprises model alphabets and writing samples designed by the author and cut in wood by Francesco Aureri da Crema. It does not include Marelli's "alfabeto a groppi" or the Roman alphabet (see previous lots). See Berlin Kat. 5187; Bonacini 428; Becker 24.
