PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY CRÉBILLON TO LORD ALBEMARLE on the verso of the front free endpaper in vol. 1: "Á Son Excellence Son Excellence Milord d'Albemarle ambassadeur de sa Majesté Britannique par son tret humble et tres obeissant seraiteur(?) Crébillon." Lord Albemarle was sent as ambassador extraordinary to Paris in 1748.
